How Your HRA Works
- First, you pay 100% of your family's health care costs up to an amount required by your employer per individual, with a maximum amount per family. You pay doctors, hospitals, etc., directly.
- Once you've paid the required amount for a family member, then your employer's HRA begins to pay for that individual's covered health care services. Once you have paid the maximum amount per family, the HRA begins to pay health care costs for all family members. The HRA sends payments directly to your doctors, hospitals, etc.
- There is a limit to what the HRA will pay for any one family member. After that limit is reached, you pay 100% of that individual's health care costs until he or she reaches the health plan's individual and/or family deductible.
- Once all your family's HRA money is spent, you pay 100% of all health care costs for your family until you meet your health plan's family deductible.
- After that you pay only copayments/coinsurance for covered services, and Priority Health pays the rest.
