How to create a strong password

A strong password is two things: easy to remember, and hard for computer programs to "hack."

Suggestions:

  • Use the first letters of a title or song. Then change some letters into numbers, and add special characters and spaces.
Example: She loves you, yeah! yeah! yeah! Sluyyy = sluY!x3
  • Create a phrase using odd spelling (substituting z for s, for example). Maybe leave out all the vowels.
    Examples:
    Success is mine = 6ZessZiZmine
My goal is to retire at 55= G0Ls2rtr@55
    Take a hike = T&ke@H1ke
White Sox win the Series in 2015 = 20Sox15winit
  • Don't use words spelled the way they are in the dictionary
  • Don't use keyboard sequences like asdfgh
  • Don't use dates, addresses, or other information people can find out about you easily. Use a date only you know is important - like your first date with your spouse.
