Ultrasound testing is a way of taking "pictures" of internal parts of the body using harmless high-frequency inaudible sound waves. The exhoes of the sound waves are recorded and transformed into video or photographic images of the area being tested.

Ultrasound is especially good for seeing into fluid-filled spaces. The SONAR used on ships to "see" into the ocean is a form of ultrasound.
