Health care reform – what’s next and how it affects YOU

The section of the Affordable Care Act that requires employers to revamp how they communicate and explain their health care plans has been delayed. In a notice published Nov. 17, the U.S. Labor Department said the reporting requirements would not go into effect until after final rules are published. The previous proposed rules, which required employers to use clearer, more simplified language when explaining health care coverage, said the rules would go into effect on March 23, 2012.

"It is anticipated that the… final regulations, once issued, will include an applicability date that gives group health plans and health insurance issuers sufficient time to comply," the Labor Department said.

While the government may have delayed its clear language regulations, Priority Health continues to use easy-to-understand words and phrases in all its member communications. We’ll keep you updated on this and other health care reform legislation.
