Preventive care: Services your employees need at no additional cost

Preventive care is crucial to holding down future costs, and Priority Health supports and educates your employees about prevention. Employees who follow preventive care guidelines are healthier, more productive and use fewer health benefits. Preventive services within our guidelines are covered at 100% — even with a high deductible plan.

Preventive care resources on priorityhealth.com:

Preventable causes of death, such as tobacco smoking, poor diet and physical inactivity, and misuse of alcohol have been estimated to be responsible for 900,000 deaths annually — nearly 40% of total yearly mortality in the United States.1 Moreover, some of the measures identified by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, such as counseling adults to quit smoking, screening for colorectal cancer, and providing influenza vaccinations, reduce mortality either at low cost or at a cost savings.2

Preventive care includes services members should get before they feel ill or are injured

  • Preventive care includes immunizations, screenings, lab tests and other services that either help prevent illness or find problems before the member experiences symptoms.
  • Members don’t have to pay for their flu shot, cholesterol screening, well-child exam, osteoporosis screening or mammogram when it’s preventive care.

It’s easy for members to find out what’s covered at no charge

  • Check our list of preventive health care guidelines by visiting priorityhealth.com and typing “preventive” in the search box.
  • Call the number listed on the back of their Priority Health ID card.
  • Ask their doctor.
  • Ask their Benefits department.

Rewarding doctors for quality care

Prevention pays: Early cancer detection saves lives and $20,000 - $28,000 in medical costs per patient.

Priority Health’s Partners in Performance (PIP) program provides financial incentives to providers for a series of measures, including preventive screenings. Inclusion of these screenings in our PIP program encourages providers to engage their patients in receiving preventive care, which contributes to outstanding success rates for preventive screenings.
