Good news for dependents up to the age of 26
(June 22, 2010)
Starting May 1, we're allowing these young adults who might otherwise lose their coverage to stay on their parents' health plans.
As you may be aware, part of the recent health care reform law extends dependent coverage to age 26. But the law takes effect in September - too late for this year's graduates. For your employees' convenience, we're allowing these dependents to keep their coverage. In addition, dependents (up to age 26) no longer must provide proof of eligibility (college enrollment verification) to remain on their parents' Priority Health plans.
Please note: This extension is only for currently covered dependents. Those dependents who have already aged off their parents' policies and lack coverage must wait until open enrollment after September 23, 2010.
