Tips for completing CMS online training
  • Computer settings - Refer to page 8 in the user manual to make sure your computer settings are properly set; if they aren't, you won’t be able to proceed.
  • Registering - After entering your e-mail address you'll create a password. It's a good idea to jot it down somewhere — you’ll need it in the future. Enter your State of Michigan license number (also called "System ID"). Select "Spectrum Health System" as the Plan Organization.
  • Study modules - You can stop and start the modules whenever you'd like. When you return you'll be brought back to where you left off (make sure you know your password).
  • Exam - When you've finished the modules, you'll be able to review them before taking the final test. You won't be able to access the final test until you have completed the modules. A minimum score of 85% is required to pass the exam. The exam can be taken multiple times. Upon successful completion, print the Certificate of Completion from CMS.

All agents who sell individual Priority Health Medicare plans must be certified.

We've made this process as easy as possible by breaking it down into two steps:

NOTE: Certification is an annual process. Agents must be re-certified before the open enrollment period begins each November.

Step 1 — CMS/AHIP online agent/broker training & testing

In response to feedback from numerous agents, we're now accepting AHIP training to satisfy Step 1. You're required to complete Web-based CMS certification training or AHIP training to sell Priority Health Medicare MAPD and PDP plans for 2010. Successful completion of Step 1 is required to move to Step 2.

CMS online training

Web-based certification training that you can complete any time, any place.
  • Download a fact sheet and a user manual from CMS that provide complete details about the training and testing. You'll need this information to access the training website.
  • Complete the five training modules at your own pace. (We recommend you set aside three hours for this).
  • Take an exam.
  • Send a copy of your CMS certificate to the Medicare agent services representative via e-mail or fax (616 975-0281) to confirm completion of the online course.

AHIP training:

  • If you've completed AHIP training, you may proceed to step 2. Send a copy of your training certificate to the Medicare agent services representative via e-mail or fax (616 975-0281).
  • Get more information about AHIP training.

NOTE: Step 1 must be completed before you move on to Step 2.
